BOARD OF DIRECTORS TERMS
Officers and Directors serve for two years, with exception of the President, who serves one year each as President-Elect, President and then Past President. The term of each elected office shall commence on September 1, following the election.
Officers and Directors are eligible to serve only two consecutive terms, of the position elected to. President can only serve once in a presidential capacity.

GENERAL BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend new Board member/Committee Chair orientation.
- At the first meeting of the new Board, redistribute the Board liaisons for the committees (see below section for Liaison details).
- Dedicate at least 5 hours per week to be available for meetings and meaningfully contribute to the work of the Association.
- Attend at least 75% of Board meetings and attend the Annual International Meeting.
- Submit agenda items for Board meetings to the President by the date selected by the President, if needed, one week prior to the meeting.
- Establish timeline for activities, delineating steps for each activity, responsible individual(s) and completion dates(s).
- Develop a budget, including projected expenses and revenues, of any committee projects for which the Board member is responsible.
- Monitor expenses associated with the office via review of Association revenues and expenditures and adhere to budget allotted.
- If a current Board Liaison to a committee, submit a list of committee members to the Management Firm (or review and revise the list on file with the Management Firm).
- Review a report by Committee Chairs for the newsletter, for which the Board member is the liaison, at least three or four times per year.
- Solicit content for the newsletter from committee chairs.
- Encourage active participation by members in the activities of the Association.
- Review and approve products, recommendations or position statements stemming from Committee Chairs.
- Perform any other duties delegated by the Board.
- Prior to leaving the position, review and update, in conjunction with the incoming Board member/Committee Chair, pertinent sections of the IAPFS Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Transition with Incoming Board members and Management Firm as described below.
BOARD DESCRIPTIONS
President
The President shall serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Association and serves as the official signatory of the Association on all contractual agreements. The President must be a clinician/researcher in practice for a minimum of five years.
President-Elect
The President-Elect shall prepare to assume the leadership role of President. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall have responsibility for support and guidance of all association activities. The President-Elect must be a clinician/researcher in practice for a minimum of five years.
Past President
The Past President shall provide guidance to the Board of Directors and serve advisory in capacity. The Past President must be a clinician/researcher in practice for a minimum of five years.
Secretary
The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining all records of the Association, including the documentation of all matters discussed at Board meetings and meetings of the general membership. The Secretary must be a clinician/researcher in practice for a minimum of five years.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall be responsible for all monetary matters including preparation of the budget of the Association. The Treasurer must be a clinician/researcher in practice for a minimum of five years.
Directors at Large
The Directors at Large shall be a clinician/researcher in a practice for a minimum of three years.
